Exchanges And Losing An Hour Of Sleep

Image
Hey everyone hope you've all had a great week! For me the week has been pretty good. We had lots of meetings, lessons, and outside time. Restrictions are opening up this week and we can meet up to 6 which will be so nice! We have the opportunity to do more service now and meet people for lessons in gardens, parks, etc. Also this coming week is Conference so I'm so stoked for that! We also had daylight savings and lost an hour of sleep. Our mission President said that we could sleep in til 7:30, but we had a meeting early in the morning anyways so we couldn't enjoy that luxury.  This week we went on 2 exchanges. Due to rules prior we could only be in groups of 2 so we split off and walk with the other elder. I think it was for them because they're stuck together 24/7 and get no contact with other missionaries. I was able to meet with my trainnee again, Elder Menzel. We walked down memory lane and had lots of laughs. We had 2 good lessons with friends this week. We had a ...

Out Of Covid-19 Lockdown

Image
Dear  ,     Covid-19 has made for interesting times, but England is starting to win back some freedoms. The admonition to ‘ Stay Home, Protect the National Health Service (NHS), Save Lives’ is being replaced with a more open approach.     It is important to consider how to best engage in missionary work in this less restricted situation. If we are not vigilant, coming out of lockdown may prove more difficult than lockdown itself.  Please consider this material, review the readings and work with your companion and mission leaders to make good decisions moving forward.     BACKGROUND     It has been over a year since England Leeds missionaries began isolating and practicing social distancing. Our adherence to counsel and regulations has been a blessing. With few exceptions, we have been healthy and have been kept from spreading COVID-19 to others.       The community is now seeing a dramatic decline in the number of ca...

Miracles Flying By

Image
Wow, what a week!  We have been busy this week. Lots of calls, lessons, planning, and good food. I have a funny story that may not be as funny over email but I'll share it later below. Anyways as I've mentioned before our Zone has set a goal to make 47 new friends. We're getting there we just got to have a good push this week and focus on being diligent in all of our efforts.  We had a couple cool miracles this week as well. We were on our walk with the other Elders and we had our copies of the Book Of Mormon. As we were walking 2 people we encountered pretty much asked for a copy and so we were able to give 2 away. We also had called through a bunch of potentials this week and came across one of our friends named Elijah from Malawi. We had a great bible study with him(that's what he requested) we are excited to study with him and involve some members with him.  Funny story:  So our friend Vijay was reading the introduction of the Book of Mormon with us one day and h...

Living It Up In Leeds

Image
Hey hey everyone hope all is well! Sorry for no email last week. Lots of changes and new beginnings. I'm currently in Leeds and this past week we had mission Conference and Zone Conference in which the Zone leadership would have to give a training for their Zone.  The focus for Zone conference was on finding with faith. For our training we related it to Finding Nemo and used the scene in finding nemo where marlin and dory took the EAC(East Australian Current) to get to Nemo. We used the EAC to mean (Exact Obedience, All Diligence, Christ centered focus) and as we do this as missionaries we can be led to our friends. We thought it went well.  Leeds is great we are working with a few people a lot are busy so I haven't been able to meet them yet. Luckily, we received a referral for a Romanian guy who wanted to involve his cousin in a bible study with us. His name is Vijay and he came to church and liked it. We are excited to work with him and hopefully his family will be interest...

Transfers!!

Heyo everyone, hope you're doing well! This past week was pretty good and flew by again. We taught, studied, and received transfers!  So, our friend Liz is doing great. We have helped her get into good study habits and she's reading the Book of Mormon stories to better understand the actually Book of Mormon. She believes the doctrines of the church and each and every time we teach her, she loves and agrees with it. She just needs that spiritual witness to really help her be committed.  We've worked with a lot of less actives and couple of ex-members. Their doing good and the ex-members are ready to get baptized, they've just got to get through Salt Lake and some paperwork. Elder Burt and I started up a Preach My Gospel class with the ward. We created a slideshow and had a zoom meeting teaching them the first lesson in preach my Gospel "The Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ" it went pretty well they seemed to love it.  Well onto the big news! We receive...
