Positive Email With Positive Results
Hey everyone! Sorry the lack of email last week. I'm going to just share some of the highlights and lowlights of these past 2 weeks.
So, the weather has been great and the sun has been shining so I can't complain there but sadly it won't last too long. We were able to do lots of garden work for the community and participate in the youth club at our chapel. Service is one of the best parts of missionary work I love it. We went on a couple of exchanges these past 2 weeks and we were able to teach and serve which is what's it's all about. I downed a 20-piece hot wing bucket from KFC and let me tell you it did not feel good afterwards Haha. We also celebrated one of the elders' birthdays by getting some Papa John's it was really good.
We went to a few other meetings throughout the week. There is a missionary in our ward who in the home MTC about to head off to Italy (reassigned to Manchester). We were able to play some sports with him in the park for his preparation day because he had nothing to do on his pdays. The funny thing is is that he is also an Elder Jones, but in Italian its Anziano. It kind of sounds like Indiana Jones Haha. We were hoping to meet some other people to play with us at the park but the park wasn't too busy sadly.
One cool experience 2 weeks ago is that we were able to meet up with someone I had been Instagram messaging for a while now. Her name is Jasmine and it was a good time to chat and share a bit about who God is with her. She is totally willing to learn more but says there's no guarantee she'll convert. We are looking forward to meeting with her more. It's cool to see your efforts in finding lead to something.
We went on a cool trip to the Yorkshire Dales this last Monday which was really fun and that was probably the highlight of the week before things started to suck. Long story short Elder Dupre and I got tested positive for covid. I'm not entirely sure who we got it from or where, but I can't taste or smell. I also feel very achy which sucks too! It's so frustrating wanting to eat something and be disappointed knowing that you can enjoy it. I had a mint and the moment I put it in I knew I had covid. So sad.
Despite the negative news we got transfer calls yesterday! Elder Dupre and I will be staying surprisingly (we both leave home the same time) and we will be getting a 3rd zone leader with us. Our 3rd companion is Elder Menzel my trainee from almost a year ago! I was so shocked it should be a fun last transfer with him I'm looking forward to it. Glad I was able to stay in Leeds for my last 6 weeks!
Spiritual thought:
"The Power of Righteousness"
~Elder Richard G. Scott
"...making decisions based upon eternal truth, is the pattern of the Lord. It will always lead you to make decisions guided by His plan of happiness. Such decisions are centered in doing what is right, not in first deciding the result desired. Choosing to do what the Lord has defined as right will, in the long run, always lead to the best outcomes. However, that pattern may require you to set aside something you very much desire now for a greater future good."
Making choices can be hard especially when they're not the desired outcome you're hoping for. It is something if we choose right will bless us forever.
Have a wonderful week everyone! Talk to you next week when hopefully this covid has left my body
1. Elder Dupre fell asleep so I made him Nick Fury
