Driving Through Jolly Ol England
Heyo everyone! This week was pretty good. We had transfers, meetings, planning, and I took my driving test!
We unfortunately didn't have a lot of lessons due to moving missionaries around and other meetings as a mission. We did get the chance to meet our potential friend named Anthony. We planned to meet him at a park and read some of the book of Mormon with him. It was quite rainy when we got there so we didn't do too much reading but we got to talk to him and understand his story. He had been telling us that this singer from Italy has been coming after him for about 10 years. He tells us she's the devil and he's trying to get rid of her. He told us he had found God and God told him he should be baptized. We are more than willing to help him out with that, but he doesn't seem like he has all the screws tight in the head. He was telling us that God has forgiven him for killing people, stealing, and all of that and I was a little taken back. I didn't show it but I was telling myself "This guy needs some time before he's ready to be baptized". I've never heard someone straight out say that they had killed someone. Long-Story short we told him what our purpose was as missionaries and he understood what we were here to do. We invited him to Church and he said he would make it this coming Sunday so we will see how it goes.
This past week I took my driving test and I passed! For those who don't know our US licenses only work in the UK for a year before we either need to leave the country to renew it or take your test hear. I am now a licensed UK driver. The tests over here are a bit tougher to take, but I managed and I'm chuffed about it.
Also this week we had an opposition to help out at a youth club some community members have put on and we host it at the chapel. It feels soo good to serve and the kids seem to really enjoy it. Hoping that these families will see that we aren't so bad after all.
Spiritual thought:
This quote is geared more towards the fulltime missionaries and there missions, but I think this can apply to all of us.
Keeping Covenants: A Message for Those Who Will Serve a Mission ~Elder Holland
"It is when an entire mission is united by the strength of every missionary’s integrity, every missionary’s personal covenant keeping, that we move mountains. When there is such unity and power, an endowment from heaven, coming to every individual in the mission, nothing can “stop the work from progressing.” It is in this way that the “truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent.”
We have that confidence when there is no weak link in the chain, when there is no vulnerable chink in the armor. The war against evil and error is the way every gospel victory is achieved—one covenant at a time, one individual at a time, one missionary at a time."
Sorry for the short email this week there wasn't a whole lot to talk about this week. Hope you all have a wonderful week love you all!
