England Leeds Mission Update
To Family Members and Leaders,
You have probably read that England has started a new four-week lockdown. Covid-19 rates have escalated, and the government response is to limit exposure by reducing personal contact.
Fortunately, most of our missionaries are well versed in the requirements to protect themselves and others. We clearly do not want to become ill or make others sick. Most of us are guests in this country and we are committed to being good citizens. So, we are adhering to the new rules. You can read about the policies here.
The new rules are, in some ways, better than the first restrictions introduced in March. For example, missionaries can spend more time to exercise outdoors. Missionaries are encouraged to not leave home, but the government does provide some exceptions for certain work, volunteer and charitable services. We will be very cautious about using these exceptions.
We have used great care and caution since the beginning of this pandemic. We were early to isolate during the uncertainty. We helped stock up on essentials. We began testing new ways of proselyting, including social media, service opportunities and virtual member engagement.
The local wards and branches of the Church are very supportive of our Elders and Sisters. They watch over them and make certain that they are well cared for.
Most importantly, we are still engaged in helping others come to Christ. Our purpose has not been diminished. It is amazing the ways we are finding to communicate. In a world of despair and discouragement, the missionaries stand as a light. It is a joy to be with them and to see them move forward when many are questioning their contribution.
We continue to “press forward with a steadfastness in Christ” (2 Nephi 20:31). It is an honor to represent you and Him.
With love,
Kirk & Sally Green, Mission Leaders
England Leeds Mission
