4th Of July In England
Heyo all my people! Sorry for no email last week I'll try to summarize these two past weeks into one email. This past week has blown by sooo fast which is great especially in isolation.
So these past two weeks we've tried to get out as much as possible even with the rubbish weather. Luckily we've had a few decent days and one or two sunny days. The zone leaders picked us up one day and we drove to the border of the mission and did a cool little hike and got to see the beautiful rolling hills. It was a great time. A few other hikes Elder Campbell and I did were really funny but very steep. We got to the top of the hill and got to see the overview of Halifax it was sweet. The hike also reminded me that I really miss mountains and these England hills are pretty wimpy in comparison.
As for the lessons we had during the week they've all been super awesome! We had a couple members flogg which is not normal. We did have some great lessons with Alana. She is soo funny and crazy. We taught her about the restoration and focused on prophets and priesthood. We were able to resolve some concerns but we still have one we have to help her overcome. She has the funniest sayings though and calls all the bad people she doesn't like Lamanites and she's the goodie goodie or the Nephites. Alana gets a little paranoid about silly things especially when she reads the Book of Mormon but she loves reading it and takes tons of notes in her come follow me it's so awesome.
We are also teaching this other lady named Mary. We found her in our old area Book contacts and her son used to be an active member and went on a mission. She agreed for us to teach her and be her friend so we've been able to have great phone calls with her. We sent a Book of Mormon in the post for her and she really appreciated that. We taught her about God is our loving heavenly father and that the Gospel blesses individuals and families. Every phone call we've had the spirit has been so strong and our testimonies have really brought her to tears. We say a prayer with her and she is just filled with the spirit it's so amazing to be apart of this work! Pray for Mary and Alana!
I think the most important thing this week besides Mary and Alana was the 4th of July. Happy Birthday America! We had some other Elders come over to our flat (with new restrictions two households can meet in one household) we had burgers, brats, watermelon, curly fries, chips and A&W Rootbeer! Yes that's right we found some good ol American rootbeer. We played some games and played spikeball it was a party for sure.
Spiritual thought:
So a couple days ago we were listening to a devotional by Hank Smith and he was talking about a scripture story in numbers I believe about moses and the Israelites. He was talking about believing in Christ and believing Christ. Now I thought about those two phrases "believing in Christ" and "believing Christ" I think a lot of times we say that we believe in Christ that we believe in the plan, but do we believe him? Do we actually believe that he can do the things we promise? Do we believe that he knows us and how we feel? Think about those questions. As we experience for ourselves and have the trials of our faith do we then start believing Christ. Then can we move forward in our challenges and struggles believing that he will comfort us and that he will bless us.
Thank you all for the support and prayers! I hope you all have a fantastic week! Stay safe and love you all!
