Our Friend Batman

Hiya hope you've all had a great week. This week was a pretty average week for the most part. We made a new friend and taught Julian.

So last transfer Elder Kidd and I met this man named Stephen Ford. Now there's a long story that goes with all of this and would probably go in the Story Bin if I tried to explain over email. Basically he is this slightly autistic catholic man who is passionate about Jesus and loves him dearly. He loves us Elders and Sisters as well. He had his own card with Lego Batman on it and told us to text him to meet. We did, but never got a response. So this past week Elder Yoakum wanted to get a Mcflurry so we went to McDonald's. While we were waiting for our food this man in a thick sweater, construction vest, goggles, and a paint mask gets right in front of me. He mumbles "you probably dont recognize me then take off his mask and goggles. Lo and behold it was batman himself STEPHEN FORD. He was pointing at my badge and saying that it was screaming at him because it has Jesus Christ in bold. We offer him a chapel tour and then looks deep in my soul and says "I'd love that..."

We planned to meet at his church but he didnt show. We get a text at 1am saying that he had been attacked at his home and was in the hospital. He told us he wasn't harmed but was a the Bradgate Hospital. I looked up where that was and it turns out that the Bradgate section is actually the Mental Unit for mental people. I was dying of laughter. Only Stephen Ford would of been attacked and kept safe at the mental unit. I will let you know how that goes next week.

Other than that we had the chance to teach Julian and he came to church. Probably the best one yet for him because he chimed in on the lesson and got emotional. I really hope Julian keeps progressing. Prayers would be much appreciated.

Spiritual Thought:

"Faith and character are intimately related. Faith in the power of obedience to the commandments of God will forge strength of character available to you in times of urgent need. Such character is not developed in moments of great challenge or temptation....Your exercise of faith in true principles builds character; fortified character expands your capacity to exercise more faith. As a result, your capacity and confidence to conquer the trials of life is enhanced. The more your character is fortified, the more enabled you are to benefit from exercising the power of faith. You will discover how faith and character interact to strengthen one another. Character is woven patiently from threads of applied principle, doctrine, and obedience."- Elder Richard G Scott (The Transforming Power of Faith and Character)

I really enjoyed this talk and find it to be true. As we are obedient and exercise our faith our character grows. I can see that already on my mission and I'm extremely grateful for it.

Anyways hope you all have a great week. Thanks for the love and support till next time ta ta!
