31 Transfer - Phase 1 & 2

Dear Parents and Church Leaders,

Thank you for sending out some of the best missionaries ever!  It is an absolute honor to serve with these great elders and sisters. They are vigilant and obedient. They are dedicated to the Lord, and they are willing to wait upon Him.

Last evening during our 9:30 PM call, we held a discussion about liberty jail. We spoke of the pressure brought upon the church in those early days of the restoration. We shared the stories of Joseph Smith and his family; of the financial perils; of the pressure from outside of the church and apostasy from within.

It was during this intense time that Joseph Smith was locked away in liberty jail. He was taken out from all of the adversity and placed under lock and key.  Yet, in this most difficult time, Joseph was allowed time to pray, to listen and to write.

You face daunting challenges at home, yet your missionaries are secure and safe here in the mission field. They have time to write and reflect. They area on their knees often.  They can reach out to others in nontraditional ways. They can support their local ward members. In essence, they can prepare for the great things the Lord has in store.

We know that it is hard to be away from loved ones. Especially at times of uncertainty. We feel the tug of our children wanting us closer to them. Yet, they and we have put full trust and faith in the Savior.  We will continue to be in places where He wants us to be.

You should know that each of our missionaries is healthy. They have a new schedule to follow. We have added times of exercise twice a day. We have made adjustments to how and when they proselyte. The local wards are extremely supportive.  It is odd to say it, but it is a great time to be a missionary.

In addition to the regularly scheduled Monday calls, missionaries have been asked to use Thursday as another time to reach out to you.  Each night, before they retire, they are asked to send a brief text telling you how they are doing.

We interact with them at least twice daily by video. We contact them multiple times through text and messenger.

It is an unprecedented time in the mission field.  England, like many other countries, is tightening down on social interaction.  We are already doing it.  There are more reported cases, but none of our missionaries have shown any symptoms of the current virus. We have been blessed.

We have 16 missionaries currently training at the England mission training center. They will be joining our service in Leeds on March 31.  We will conduct this transfer in two phases. Phase 1 begins tomorrow. We will be positioning all companionships that we can. Those who will be awaiting the new missionaries, will be in temporary assignments until March 31.

We are authorizing additional data amounts for each companionship. We are using the data to proselyte. Amazingly, we are reaching people we would never reach during the regular hours of service.

Thank you for your trust. You have given your best. We are doing all we can to love them and protect them as you would. The amazing thing though, is these are wonderfully seasoned adults. They are full of wisdom and service beyond their years. They were prepared for such a time as this.

It is a grand time to be a missionary.
