The Trainee Becomes The Trainer

Well hiya everyone hope you've all had a good week. This past week was transfers and I recieved my new companion trainee Elder Yoakum from Las Vegas! We also had Zone Conference yesterday so thats why there's an email today.

So I got my new trainee out of Las Vegas what are the chances. He is from North Las Vegas so no chance I would know him. I met him at the Wharf Valley Chapel where I first met my trainer Elder King. We then all went to the cow and calf just like I did and took pictures and split off to get some peace and quiet. The rest of the day was getting back to the flat with all of his luggage. We left the train station to walk to the flat and out of nowhere the biggest rain/hail storm came out of nowhere. The wind was so strong the rain was coming at us sideways and creating water tornados. It was insane.

Moving on to other things that happened this week we had 2 great lessons. One with our boy Julian and one with an older guy we've tried to teach for a while named Phil. We taught the Restoration to both of them. Ever since Elder Yoakum got here I've been able to take lead and develop my skills a lot more because I have to lead and train. My street contacting and communication with people has gotten better. Phil couldn't make it to church but we are seeing him saturday again. Julian came to church again which was fantastic! We had elders quorum and we talked about the talk given by Elder Rasband about keeping promises and covenants. Julian enjoyed it and said he agreed. He told us that we was a man of his word and he does what he tells people he's going to do. We loved to hear that. We will see him Thursday this week so please pray!

Elder Yoakum had adjusted well I'm glad. I know when I came out I was a lot more anxious and nervous but he seems to adapting well and making my job easier.

Spiritual thought:

So we had Zone Conference yesterday and it was so powerful as usual. They focused a lot on going back to the basics of missionary work. One thing that has been on my mind for a while now on the mission pertains to recieving personal revelation and spiritual guidance. President Green helped us missionaries feel of the spirit and seek out this revelation. Now it will be too long to explain on this email but I will direct you to the early parts of D&C specifically sections  4-12. Focus on these sections because they contain the history of the early saints trying to figure out how to feel of the spirit themselves. Even though the Prophet Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ and others saw Heavenly beings they still had struggles recognizing the spirit. So focus and study those sections for that guidance.

Hope you all have a great week! Thank you all for the support and prayers. Love you all!
