Patience Is A Virtue

Hey everyone hope you've all had a great week. This week was a successful one I'm excited about it.

So this past Tuesday we were knocking doors as usual and we hadn't handed out a BOM yet so we knocked probably 90 or something doors on the street and then knock into this single mom. She was very timid and shy and said she had anxiety but was willing to have us back the next day to talk. We got her number and she actually responded to us later that night. The next day we were able to teach her about the restoration but only briefly and on the doorstep because we had district council that day. We invited her to church and she said she couldn't this past sunday but the next she could. I couldn't believe it she was the first solid friend we had made these past 2 transfers. We planned to have a member with us and we are going back to teach her tomorrow so I'm excited about that.

The rest of the week was pretty normal not much to it besides knocking. On that grind. We've had some good weather days and some rainy ones, but hey that means wife points if I knock in the rain. Something I do want to share is a confrence talk given by Robert C Oaks called "The Power of Patience" I've made it a goal each week to study and apply a christlike attribute and this past week was patience. Elder Robert c Oaks says:

"Patience may well be thought of as a gateway virtue, contributing to the growth and strength of its fellow virtues of forgiveness, tolerance, and faith. When Peter asked Christ how many times he should forgive his brother, Christ replied, “Seventy times seven,” rather than the mere seven times that Peter had offered (see Matthew 18:21–22). To forgive seventy times seven certainly takes a large measure of patience.
Elder Neal A. Maxwell linked patience and faith together when he taught: “Patience is tied very closely to faith in our Heavenly Father. Actually, when we are unduly impatient, we are suggesting that we know what is best—better than does God. Or, at least, we are asserting that our timetable is better than His” (“Patience,” Ensign, Oct. 1980, 28).
We can grow in faith only if we are willing to wait patiently for God’s purposes and patterns to unfold in our lives, on His timetable."

I really loved this and have been applying it to my missionary work. I know things work on our Heavenly Father's timetable and that I need to patient when we aren't finding much success. He knows best and he has intricate plans laid out for all of us.

That's all I've got this week. Hope you all have a great week and feel free to email!
