District Finding And Conference Weekend

Hey Everyone! Hope everyone had a good week. This week was good we had district finding which was fun and also it was Conference weekend which on the mission is like going to Disneyland for us missionaries. 

So this past Wednesday we had a district council meeting and afterwards planned on doing a district finding in one of the sisters areas to help them find a friend. Our plan was to go into the city center and draw the Plan of Happiness with chalk and share it with the people walking through. Now let me just say this town center was so empty and just had a bunch of older people who were clearly not interested. One of the awkward parts about it was on the other side of the statue where we drew it up were two Jehovahs Witnesses glaring at us. They actually had some pedestrian walk over and see what we were drawing and report back. I thought that was kind of funny. They didn't move from their bench the whole time we were there too. We had a few encounters with people but no one really interested. We left after a couple hours but left the church website underneath the mural so if people had questions they could go there. Turns out later in the week someone reached out and the sister got a new friend.

Now onto conference weekend the times are a little different here in England so we watched the Saturday morning in the evening, then the afternoon and Sunday morning the next day. We watched the final session on Monday. So for the first two sessions we watched at the stake center with all the other missionaries. We all loaded up on snacks to prepare for it as well. We also watched it at a member's house with their grandchildren. We had a nice Yorkshire pudding, mash with gravy, carrots, pork, roasties(roasted potatoes), and stuffing. It was a good dinner and a great conference weekend loved all the talks. 

Spiritual: So I loved so much of conference I really enjoyed Elder Holland opening up with the little kid using his foot to sustain the Prophet haha I thought was pretty funny. And then him closing his talk with "Welcome to Conference" it brought the spirit and it was a total mic drop haha. He focused his talk around keeping Christ at the center and I think that is super crucial. Also I liked Elder Oaks talk and he said that we need trust in the lord with all thine heart and not unto our own understanding in all thy ways acknowledged him and he shall direct thy ways. We may not know why things are happening to us or understand fully, but when we trust in Him he will lead us to an everlasting joy and happiness. I loved so many more talks, but that would be too long to share with you so I'll leave it at that.
