Zone Conference, Exchange, And New Friends
Hey everyone, hope you've had a good week! Thanks for all who emailed as well. You can email me anytime during the week I just can't respond till monday. I'll try my best to respond to everyone.
Ok so this week was a pretty solid and busy one. It went by so fast I feel like. Anyways the first thing that happen this week was Zone Interviews with president and sister green and training from the Zone leaders. It was such a great time we all met at our stake center and had a few words from President and Sister Green. One thing I really loved that I got from them was that we should all come with the speed of light. This light is the light of Christ and as missionaries we should always bring that light to everyone we meet. The light cleaveth unto light. As we bring light into our lives more light will come towards you. I loved that. He also said that we should scorch sin and temptation by bombarding it with scripture study, prayers, and anything else that brings us closer to God. After their remarks we all got a chance to chat with them and receive training with the Zone leaders. It was a good time.
Afterwards we pulled a last minute exchange with Elder Kidd and Elder Weigman. I was not looking forward to it because the next day itd be me and Elder Weigman (a trainee as well) on our own knocking. As the next day approached I had no clue what to do. So we knocked a couple streets. I was hoping to take some time up doing that, but it was rough. Elder Weigman is a SUPER smart kid, but very socially awkward. His companion kind of takes charge in their own approaches so he wanted to take charge in just about every single one of them. It was so hard because you could tell he was trying to force a scripted approach instead of starting a casual convo. Even when he tried he still stumbled over his word or cut the person off and apologized afterwards. It was tough for sure. We got through it though for the first bit and went back later to do some more. Meanwhile the more experienced Elder King and Elder Kidd had a blast. On the bright side they did find a friend for Elder king and I so that was awesome.
To backtrack a little bit Elder King and I actually found a friend named Shazia earlier in the week and planned to meet with her on Saturday. We planned for it and prayed that the lesson would turn out good. When we got to the appointment we knocked on her door and heard kids, but no response. We knocked again but still no answer. I was a bit frustrated I was looking forward to teaching this lesson, but no luck. We did have Catherine though. She seemed more promising and we will meet with her Tuesday. Basically her story revolves around prayer. She had talked to Jehovahs Witnesses before, but didn't like them they seemed a little belittling of women and didn't seem to care. She said that she had been praying for guidance and where she should go next. This was the perfect scenario. Her guidance is through us!!! I can't wait hopefully things turn out good this next week with her. She lives next to some members so we are going to invite her to watch conference there which would be perfect.
Those were the big things this week. Thanks for all the prayers and support! Love to see the emails and if you haven't feel free to I'd love to hear from you! Love and miss you all! Till next week
