Week 3
Hey guys! Hope you had a great last week. My week was a busy one so buckle up. I'll try to format this week as best as I can.
TUESDAY :
Elder King and I went on an exchange with our district leader Elder Kidd and his trainee Elder Wiegman. So early that morning we set out to Dewsbury which is about a 40 min drive. We met at there flat and I went with Elder Kidd for the day.
We first were dropped off on a street for knocking and said a prayer that we may be led to those ready for the Gospel. We knocked on about 40 doors and it was a great experience for me because I got to see how Elder Kidd does his thing. He's been out for about 6 months and he's such a great talker and can carry on conversations so easy it seemed like. He bridged it over to the gospel so well each encounter we had.
We then knocked on this woman Ann's house and she actually was willing to hear our message. We asked if we could meet later today and she said YES! Wow this was unreal we had a new friend so quick. We then left to headed to the park. On our way there Elder Kidd saw this teenager on the other side of the street and yelled "Hey we are inviting people to come to Church do you want to come." He was totally down he said he'd been looking for the right Church to join. Now when I heard this I was a bit confused I wasn't sure if the spirit led us to someone or if the kid was on some drugs cause he seemed to willing. He even gave us his number. ( later in the week he didn't respond to his phone and didn't show up to church so I don't know).
We made it to the park and sat on the bench and this old woman and her son came up to us and started chatting with us. We gave her a Book of Mormon and invited her to church they were both really nice.
At this point I didn't know what to think this almost never happens. Anyways we had a tea appointment with a family and then headed to the church to teach a recently baptized convert. Then later that night we got some Fatayers (super unhealthy but really good pizza things with meats sauces and cheese on bread) and Elder King downed a whole 16" one.
WEDNESDAY:
1st birthday on the mission felt just like a normal day. Thank you for all the birthday wishes really made my day!
We made it back to our flat in Meltham and got ready for the day. We then went through the old area book and figured out who we'd try by. That pretty much consumed our day so pretty boring stuff. We had tea at a member's house and the wife was actually from north Las Vegas so that was cool. The family was so sweet and she actually bought a cake and they sang happy birthday which was awesome. Didn't expect that to happen.
THURSDAY:
Nothing too much happened we went about our day and we picked up Elder Gardenier and Elder Windsor from Huddersfield and they stayed the night because we were headed to Nottingham on Friday for Mission tour.
FRIDAY/SATURDAY:
So we headed off to the mission tour. We picked up some elders from Huddersfield and drove 2 hours to the Nottingham chapel. It was an amazing experience we had President Sabin of the seventy speak and his wife for pretty much the whole day. It was a good day. Later on a bunch of us Elders headed to a Shwarma spot in Sheffield and it was so fun. One of the elders Elder McKenna from Ireland started talking smack telling me meet him at the rim haha. One of the funniest dudes I've met his accent makes it that much funnier. The Next day we did some service for a non member lady and we mowed her garden. It took about 4 hours to do because her grass was super long and we had to go over it a couple times. Her mom who's about 80 came out and chatted with us. She thought Utah was in Canada and asked Elder King who the President was and we just went with it haha. We weren't able to talk about the gospel, but gave her cards to hand out to her friends for service and we are coming to help with her backyard later.
Spiritual/SUNDAY:
Sunday was good I bore my testimony finally introducing myself to the ward. Then we had priesthood and it was a super good lesson. We talked about the confence talked given by David P. Homer called "hearing his voice" it was a very intellectual discussion talking about the world and all the competing voices and how God has made it so we can hear his voice. Highly recommend reading the talk.
So that was my week very busy and very fun. Love and miss you guys thanks for all the support and prayers have a great week! Send me emails if you haven't already!
