1st Week In The Field
Sorry for no update last week we were transferring into the field and they wouldn't let us email.
So this past week I got my first trainer in the mission field. His name is Elder King and he's from Bountiful, Utah. He's been out for 13 months already so he knows his way around. Our area is in a place called Meltham which is in the countryside with tons of small villages. We have a decent flat and thankfully we have a car so we can get to places easy.
The day I got there we went right to work. We started along a street and went door knocking. Not gonna lie I was pretty anxious and scared, but it ended up being alright. The rest of the week has been just a rollercoaster of emotions. We've had a couple people to teach and a less active. They've all been good experiences and its going to be an adjustment.
So the less active we've been teaching her name is Ann and her husband Emanuel who isn't a member but supportive. I had an idea to show her a talk by Uchtdorf called "It Works Wonderfully" which talks about being a member of the Church. She bursted in tears at the end and asked for a blessing it was a really spiritual experience. She is trying to come back to church slowly but surely.
Our next person we are teaching is Ahmad. He's middle eastern and has been having lessons on and off for about 5 years and this past lesson he told us he's been reading and praying and we are hoping he is able to come to church if he isn't out of town with work. He seems pretty promising.
Funny Experience: Ok so this past Sunday we went door knocking for about 30 min and then we got to this door with a budda statue on the doorstep so we knocked and got a whiff of weed and it was a lady and her husband and immediately told us to come in. Now when this happens you know they're crazy. When I walked in I look to the right and see a cage with what looks a stuffed albino tiger ( This is a sign and we shouldve left ). So we sit down and they tell us their names, Claire and Marc, and tell us that they loved having missionaries at their house. So it seemed pretty promising, but nope. She goes on and asks us, "So what is your birthday?" and I tell her and so does my companion. She goes " So you're a Polar Bear and he's a T-Rex" and I was like ooooook then. So I try to steer the conversation to the Plan of salvation and what we believe. So I ask her if she believes in a God and she just started rambling on. She starts saying that there's gonna be a second coming and I was like yeah there will be, but her idea was ---------> out there. She says that our solar system is orbiting another solar system and that its sun is a nemesis to ours and there's a planet called NEBARU ( Knee-Ba-Roo) which is a habited planet and has Aliens on it. So this solar system is coming close and it'll cause some chaos. So yeah I didn't really know how to respond and then she tells me that I have the head to be a Barber and that I should be one. We ended up leaving there so confused and bursting with laughter. So that was my first weird/funny experience so far in the field.
Other than that I'm still adjusting to the missionary. Still getting anxious, but it's getting better. Thanks for all the support and prayers. And please email I'd love to hear from you! I'll try my best to respond and can only on mondays. Love you all!
